About the Bad to the Bone Riff sound

George Thorogood recorded that riff in 1982 as a straight statement of menace, and the internet has spent the last decade using it exclusively as a joke. Meme culture applies it strictly ironically: a toddler in sunglasses, a cat easing a glass towards the edge of a table with unbroken eye contact, anybody doing something mildly rebellious with disproportionate swagger. The gag lives in the gap between the riff's confidence and the scale of the rule being broken. Play it when somebody breaks the smallest possible rule and looks proud.

OriginGeorge Thorogood's 1982 riff, repurposed by memes as ironic badass entrance music.
