About the Light Yagami Laugh (Death Note) sound

Death Note is a series about two clever people trying to out-think one another, and this is what winning sounds like when nobody else is in the room. Mamoru Miyano's performance as Light Yagami builds from a private snicker into full operatic collapse, and the 2006 anime lets it run far longer than most shows would dare. Restraint would have ruined it. Anime edits have spent two decades using the laugh as the universal sound of a plan coming together, usually over footage of something extremely petty going right.
