About the Wazzup sound
Whassuuuup. Budweiser's 2000 advertising campaign, adapted from Charles Stone III's short film True, turned a group of friends greeting each other on the phone into one of the most quoted lines of the decade, and it has never entirely gone away. The elongated vowel is the whole thing. Nobody quotes it briefly. It swept awards, spawned a million playground impressions, and now survives as the standard way to enter a Discord call obnoxiously. Anyone over thirty reacts instantly; anyone under thirty has heard it without knowing why.
OriginFrom Budweiser's 'Whassup' adverts (2000), adapted from Charles Stone III's short film True.
