A single wet chomp, gone in about a quarter of a second, and quietly one of the hardest-working clips on any editor's timeline. Bite sounds do one very specific job. They punctuate. Drop one under a jump cut and the cut suddenly feels intentional; lay it over a zoom on somebody's face and the gag lands twice as hard. Cartoon editors have been using the chomp since the black-and-white era, and the internet inherited the habit wholesale. Short, dry, easy to layer under anything that needs to feel snapped shut.
