Five Nights at Freddy's 2 doubled the animatronics and removed the doors, which is another way of saying it doubled the screaming. This is what arrives when the Freddy mask goes on half a second too late: a distorted, throat-shredding blast that owes as much to deliberate audio clipping as it does to sound design. Your brain registers the harshness as damage before it registers it as a jumpscare, and that is why the clip still works on people who have watched it a hundred times. Headphone users, consider yourselves warned.
