About the Shooting Stars sound
Bag Raiders put this out in 2009 and it did modest business, an Australian electro track with a chorus built for driving at night. Then in early 2017 somebody paired it with footage of a man falling, edited so that he tumbled off into a starfield. The format ran for months. Anybody stumbling, jumping badly or losing their footing got the same treatment. The song became inseparable from the joke — to the mild bemusement of the duo who wrote it. Years later, people still cannot hear the intro without expecting somebody to drop out of frame.
Origin'Shooting Stars' by Australian duo Bag Raiders, released as a single in 2009 and turned into a falling-video meme in early 2017.
