About the Ear Ringing (Tinnitus) sound

A high, thin eeeeee where the world used to be. Film grammar established this as the standard signal for concussed disorientation, letting the audience hear what the character hears, which is very nearly nothing. Edits inherited the technique wholesale. Play it after loud chaos, after news that has not been processed yet, or after an alarm's third snooze at a time nobody should be conscious. It is realistic enough that a fair number of listeners check their own ears afterwards, an outcome that is either impressive or unforgivable.

OriginThe cinematic post-blast ear ring.
