About the Nintendo Switch Click sound
Slide a Joy-Con down the rail and the Switch answers with this. Nintendo's designers liked how magnets snapped together and engineered the mechanical rail specifically to keep that feeling, so the click does two jobs at once: locking the controller in place, and confirming to your hands that it locked. The 2017 reveal trailer leaned on the noise heavily, which is how a fraction of a second ended up standing in for an entire console. Under a second long and weirdly moreish. People detach and reattach controllers purely to hear it again.
OriginThe click of a Joy-Con attaching to the Nintendo Switch console (2017).
