About the Game Boy Advance Startup sound

That rising, slightly metallic chord, and the Game Boy logo sliding down the screen to meet it. The GBA's boot sound is a small masterpiece of restraint: under a second of actual signal, then silence, then whatever cartridge you had jammed in there since Christmas. Nintendo has always treated startup audio as a promise. This particular one delivered Pokémon, Advance Wars and Metroid Fusion, on a screen you could barely see without a desk lamp. Handheld nostalgia distilled, and a very tidy stream intro.

OriginThe Game Boy Advance boot-up chime (2001).
