About the Phasmophobia Heartbeat sound

Your own pulse, played back at you, speeding up. Phasmophobia turns fear into a mechanic: sanity drops, the ghost starts hunting, the lights die, and the heartbeat tells you it has noticed you specifically. Kinetic Games pushed it into early access in 2020 and it promptly became the game everybody streamed with four friends and a great deal of screaming. Hiding in a locker while this plays is genuinely unpleasant: the audio does work the graphics never had to. Use it to raise the temperature on a countdown, a deadline, or a message that says we need to talk.
