About the Pigeon Scream sound

Pigeons do not, as a rule, scream. That this one does is both alarming and very funny. The clip has become a fixture of chaotic edits and bird-noise compilations: a sudden strangled shriek from an animal you had filed away as a walking bread receptacle. Deploy it when something entirely ordinary does something deeply unexpected. It works especially well laid over footage of anybody eating in public near a park bench, where the threat has always been real and the birds have always known it.

OriginA pigeon distress call popularised through chaotic edit compilations.
