About the Wii Shop Channel Music sound
Kazumi Totaka wrote this jaunty little loop for the Wii Shop Channel, which opened in late 2006 and closed for good in 2019. Its job was to keep you company while you converted real money into Wii Points and watched a download meter crawl. Somehow it became one of the most remixed pieces of music on the internet, spawning years of joke arrangements in every genre going. The tune is far better than it ever needed to be. Totaka has form for that, having quietly hidden a nineteen-note signature melody in Nintendo games for decades.
