About the Amber Alert sound

Engineered specifically to be impossible to ignore. The emergency tone overrides silent mode, do not disturb, and whatever conversation you happened to be having. The harsh two-tone screech is not an accident of the technology; it was designed by people who needed a sound that could not be tuned out by a brain in a noisy room. That makes it the single most effective prank sound available and also the most genuinely alarming. Every phone within earshot will be checked instantly, so use it sparingly. This one really does startle people.

OriginThe emergency alert tone used for Amber Alerts.
