About the FNAF Clank sound
Metallic banging drifts in from somewhere else in the building. No direction, no distance, no picture. FNAF built its dread almost entirely out of sounds that arrive without pictures, because you are stuck in one room with a tablet and everything you learn comes through the walls. This particular clatter tells you something large has moved, but not where or how close, and the game is perfectly happy to let you burn your remaining power finding out. Layer it under a horror edit and you inherit a decade of conditioned player anxiety for free.
