About the TF2 Critical Hit sound

The little electric zap that means triple damage and, quite often, that you did nothing whatsoever to earn it. Team Fortress 2's random crits are the most argued-about mechanic Valve ever shipped — competitive servers disable them, everyone else accepts them as weather. The sound is deliberately gaudy so that both parties know precisely what has just happened. Hearing it fire in your favour is delightful. Hearing it fire against you is grounds for a forum post. A second and a half of undeserved luck.
