Oxford University Press made "brain rot" its word of the year in December 2024, after the phrase turned up 230 per cent more often than it had the year before. The dictionary people were describing a worry about what endless scrolling does to a person. Gen Alpha had already taken the word, kept the spelling, dropped the worry and started using it as a genre label. This board is the audio side of that genre: 67, the Italian brainrot creatures, sigma anthems, skibidi noise and the rest, as buttons you can press.

About the Brainrot Soundboard
The phrase is older than the feed it describes. Oxford traced its first recorded use to Thoreau's Walden in 1854, in a grumble about readers who preferred easy ideas to difficult ones. Thoreau at least never had to explain a shark in trainers.
Almost none of this is music in the ordinary sense. A brainrot sound works more like a password: ten or fifteen seconds that confirm you and the person watching are looking at the same feed. TikTok is built around audio pages rather than around videos, so one clip gets adopted, remixed and re-uploaded by thousands of accounts while whoever posted first is forgotten entirely. Two spoken numbers from a Skrilla track travelled that way, through basketball edits, into a call-and-response chant that teachers on three continents now hear all day.
The Italian branch is the strangest thing to happen to memes in years. It got going in early 2025 with Tralalero Tralala, a three-legged shark in Nike trainers narrated by a synthetic voice speaking faintly wrong Italian, posted by an account that was banned shortly afterwards. Hundreds of characters followed within weeks. Bombardiro Crocodilo has a crocodile's head on the body of a bomber. Ballerina Cappuccina wears a coffee cup for a head. Tung Tung Tung Sahur came out of Indonesia in February 2025 and takes its name from the drumming that wakes people for the meal before dawn in Ramadan, which gives it the only genuine tradition in the cast. Pictures from image generators, voices from text-to-speech, an entire fictional universe built and exhausted faster than one television season.
Most people land here hunting one specific clip. An editor needs a stinger for the punchline of a Minecraft video, a Discord user wants something to set off mid-call, and a fair number of parents arrive trying to identify whatever their eleven-year-old will not stop chanting. Every button plays on tap and downloads as a free MP3, and each sound keeps its own page with the story behind it. Handy if you have ever lost an argument about what 67 means.

What does 67 mean?
Nothing in particular, and the emptiness is what keeps it going. It came from Skrilla's track Doot Doot (6 7) and spread through basketball edits into a chant with a hand gesture attached. Kids say it because other kids say it. Always two separate numbers, never sixty-seven.
Why do the characters have Italian-sounding names?
Because the first one did. Tralalero Tralala arrived with an AI voice reading nonsense in Italian cadence, that combination was the joke, and everyone copying it kept the format. Most of the names are not real Italian words at all, just rhythm and vowels doing an impression of the language.
